Students Perform "Romeo and Juliet" for Friends and Family
Students at the Hendrick Hudson High School ENL Summer School program recently performed a Reader's Theater version of "Romeo and Juliet" for friends and family.
The students rehearsed for just a couple of weeks prior to the live performance. They worked hard to learn the pronunciation of the lines and the meaning of their parts. They also had to rehearse the scene blocking, including sword fighting, and how to deliver the appropriate emotion behind their lines.
"These ENL students were amazing," teacher Deborah Levy said. "They are all newcomers. All of them arrived in the United States within the last year and they were all able to interpret Shakespeare with gusto."
