Hendrick Hudson Honors Student Achievement With New Honor Society Wall Display

As part of Hendrick Hudson School District’s centennial celebration, Hendrick Hudson High School has unveiled a new Honor Society Wall display that celebrates student achievement while honoring the history of the school’s honor societies.

Hendrick Hudson students created a mural to showcase the school's honor societies.

The project was envisioned by National Honor Society President Elizabeth Apienti and National Art Honor Society President Ada Millar, who worked together to create a display representing the honor societies that have been active over the last four years at Hendrick Hudson The installation, which is located on the upper level of the cafeteria, features framed club photographs and was designed to be updated annually so future students can continue to see themselves reflected in the school’s history.

To connect the display to Hen Hud’s Sailor identity, Ada designed and painted a custom mural that serves as the backdrop for the photographs. With the support and approval of Principal Lisa Martino Alves, the students transformed the space into a lasting tribute to the leadership, service, scholarship, and accomplishments of Hendrick Hudson students.

“Special thanks to Ada Millar and Elizabeth Apienti for their vision and leadership, and to Mia Schembari, Katarina Carvalho, and Jonna Rivera, as well as the many students who assisted with researching, scanning, organizing, and framing photographs,” art teacher Jessica Nash said. “Their collective efforts helped preserve an important part of Hendrick Hudson’s history while creating a display that will be enjoyed by students, staff, and visitors for years to come.”

As the district celebrates 100 years, the Honor Society Wall serves as a reminder that Hen Hud’s story continues to be written by the students who learn, lead, create, and serve their community each day.
